Corn Tahari

Corn Tahari is a North Indian recipe made using rice, corn and various spices.

Ingredients to make Corn Tahari:


Wash the rice and soak in water for 10 minutes.

Cut the beans into 5″ pieces. Dice the potatoes. Cut the carrot into small dices. Finely chop the tomatoes and slice the onions.

Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan. Add the cloves, cinnamon and the cardamoms and cook for 30 seconds or till fragrant. Add the sliced onions and cook for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally till the onions are cooked.

Add the turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala, salt and tomatoes and mix well. Add the vegetables and the corn kernels and mix well. Add the rice and mix well. Cook for 4-5 minutes stirring constantly, till each grain is well coated and glistens.

Add 1 liter water and bring to a boil on high flame. Reduce the flame, cover and cook for 15 minutes or till the rice is done. Remove from fire and let stand for 5 minutes.

Serve hot with a cold raita, fresh coriander chutney and poppadum.
