Ingredients to make jalebi for iftar:
- For Syrup
- Sugar 1 and 1/2 cup
- Lime 1/2
- Kesar A few strands
- For Batter
- All Purpose Flour
- or maida 1/2 cup
- Gram Flour/Besan 2 tsp
- Corn Flour 1 tsp
- Dahi 12 tsp
- Fruit Salt 1 tsp
- Make the sugar syrup on low flame. Add a few strands of kesar to it. The syrup has to stay warm.
- Prepare the batter by mixing 1/2 cup of maida, 2 tbsp of gram flour/Besan, 1 tbsp of corn flour, 12 tbsp of dahi and 1 tbsp of fruit salt. Leave it for 30 seconds
- After putting the batter in an icing bag, pipe jalebis into hot oil and fry till golden brown. Dunk the fried jalebis into sugar syrup and allow them to soak for 2-3 minutes, before serving.
