Sweet and Sour Chicken

Sweet and Sour Chicken is a non-vegetarian snack recipe cooked using boneless chicken, soy sauce, tomato ketchup, carrot.

Ingredients to make Sweet and Sour chicken:

300 gm chicken boneless

1 tablespoon white vinegar

1 cup water

8 cubes pineapple

2 tablespoon corn starch

1 tablespoon tomato ketchup

1 tablespoon sugar

1 large onion

1 cup vegetable oil

For Marination:

1/3 cup all purpose flour
1 egg
salt as required
1/3 teaspoon garlic
1/3 cup corn starch
2 teaspoon soy sauce
black pepper as required
1/3 teaspoon ginger

For Garnishing

2 tablespoon spring onions

For The Main Dish

1 small carrot
1 handful baby corn
1/4 cabbage

 

Steps:

  • Firstly, wash the boneless chicken and keep it aside. Now, use a chopping board and cut the chicken pieces into cubes, chop garlic and ginger and keep them aside. Also chop spring onions, cut the baby corns diagonally, cut the onion into cubes, dice the carrots, chop the spring onion and cut a few chunks of pineapple.Now to prepare the marinade, add all purpose flour, 1/3 cup cornstarch, egg, 1 teaspoon soy sauce, salt, ginger, garlic and black pepper. Mix them well. Now, put the chicken cubes in the batter and coat them evenly.Next, place a saucepan over medium flame and pour oil in it. Once the oil is heated, fry the chicken pieces for 7-8 minutes until the pieces are golden brown in colour.

    Place tissues over a plate and transfer the fried chicken pieces onto the plate. The tissue paper will absorb the excess oil present in the chicken.

    Now prepare the sauce by putting ketchup, white vinegar, 1 teaspoon soy sauce, 2 tablespoon cornstarch, sugar and water in a large bowl. Mix all the ingredients well and keep it aside.

    On the other hand, place a large skillet over medium heat and pour 2 tablespoon of oil. Once the oil is heated, put chopped onions and saute for a while. Add carrots, cabbage and baby corns into the pan and stir fry for 2 minutes. Make sure that the veggies do not get brown in colour.

    Pour the sauce mixture and chunks of pineapple. Bring the mixture to a boil to make the consistency thick. Add the fried chicken pieces and stir well. Garnish the dish with spring onions. Serve!
